Outreach
Outreach is a core component of Niwot United Methodist Church. As a member of the human community we support various organizations within our local area as well as globally.
We put our money, time and talents where their needs are
The O.u.r. center
O.U.R. (Outreach United Resource) Center in Longmont welcomes individuals and families within our service area who need support with food, housing, or essential needs. Residency within the St. Vrain Valley School District is verified to ensure our programs serve local community members.
Sister Carmen
Sister Carmen Community Center in Lafayette – For many years Niwot UMC has provided food and financial assistance to Sister Carmen CC at Thanksgiving. We will collect food again this year and donate $100.00 to Sister Carmen CC to purchase turkeys and/or other needed food items.
Kiva
Kiva, an international micro-lending organization – Niwot UMC has participated in this organization since 2012. It provides hope to those in need around the world, for those who are not able to obtain a loan through normal banking channels. During 2024 through donations of $512.00 and client loan repayments, we were able to make 39 loans totaling $2,710.00. Since joining Kiva, we have made 356 loans totaling $24,135.00 to those in 72 countries. Loans were made to provide wholistic health, buy farming equipment, construct hygienic toilets, buy produce to sell, purchase animals to raise and sell, medical expenses, higher education tuition and fees, serve those in need, supply clean drinking water, help refugees and those in conflict areas, and to improve the quality of life, to name a few reasons for the loans.
Boulder county Jail
JET Program
The church for several years has supported the JET (Jail Education and Transition) program at the Jail. United Methodist Student Day
We have donated $100.00 from the Outreach fund to the last of the six special offerings at the Mountain Sky Conference supporting the United Methodist Student Day. Student Day supports scholarships “for undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs for United Methodist students”, educating “a new generation of leaders for the United Methodist Church”.

Peopleweaver has focused on Congolese women and girls living in the Kyangwali Refugee Settlement in Uganda, and in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. They have also partnered there locally to start an adult education school. Niwot UMC has helped Peopleweaver for many years; this year with a donation of $625.00. provide funds for the United Methodist Committee On Relief.
