OUTREACH UPDATE– Early in the month of April the Safe Shelter of St Vrain Valley sustained a kitchen fire. Appliance and cabinets were burned and due to the toxic particles all food, therapeutic toys and books, along with other items were destroyed. The women and children fleeing domestic abuse were all temporarily displaced to other facilities. The church will send a monetary donation from the Outreach Fund of $300.00 to assist in repairs and replacement of the food and items lost.
Helping the First Responders of Boulder County is the main focus of Outreach over the next 6 weeks. The church will make a monetary gift from the Outreach Fund of $400.00 to the Colorado Lifetrak program. This is a radio transmission system designed to assist law enforcement and rescue agencies in locating lost or missing persons who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, autism, dementia, or other disorders that may prohibit them from communicating personal information, such as who they are or where they live.
The church will also collect new or very gently used teddy bears that will be delivered to the Boulder County Sheriff’s department. The teddy bears will be distributed amongst the sheriff squad cars, so the sheriffs can give them to traumatized children found in crisis situations. We will collect the teddy bears through Sunday June 11th.
