UMW High
Hattin' Tea
The
fifth annual High Hattin' Tea was held on Saturday, April 19, 2008
at the church. With 100 women attending the tea, over $8200 was
raised, with all of the proceeds going to the Community
of Sudanese & American Women/Men (CSAW). CSAW is a local
non-profit organization that relocates refugees from Sudan and helps them
achieve their dreams of security, peace, health, friendship, empowerment,
and education in the U.S.

The church's unit of the United Methodist Women (UMW) organized the event
and provided all of the food and flowers via donations from their
membership and from local businesses. The men of the church donned tuxedos
and served the tea and refreshments and kept the women out of the kitchen
for the afternoon. Nine Sudanese refugee women, most of whom are attending
CU, Front Range Community College, or Boulder High School, attended the
tea and provided a short concert of songs from their country.
