Love Came Down at Christmas

by Christina Rossetti

Love came down at Christmas,
Love all lovely, love divine;
Love was born at Christmas,
Star and angels gave the sign.

Worship we the Godhead,
Love incarnate, love divine;
Worship we our Jesus:
But wherewith for sacred sign?

Love shall be our token,
Love shall be yours and love be mine,
Love to God and to all men,
Love for plea and gift and sign.

Come, Spirit, come, our hearts control,

our spirits long to be made whole.

Let inward love guide every deed;

by this we worship, and are freed.

from the hymn, Gift of Love, by Hal Hopson

In Memory of Wayne Banks and Ardelle Delka

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

Mary Elizabeth Frye (1905-2004)

The Lord is my pacemaker.   I shall not rush.

He makes me stop for quiet intervals.

He provides me with the images of stillness which restore my serenity.

He leads me in ways of efficiency through calmness of mind and his guidance is peace.

Even though I have much to do I will not fret, for his presence is here.

He gives refreshment and renewal in the midst of my activity, he anoints my mind with the oil of tranquility and my cup of joyous energy overflows.

Surely harmony and effectiveness shall rule over my house and I shall walk in the Lord's peace until I live in his house forever.

Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

How precious is your steadfast love, O God! All people may take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
